Malaga Airport is located just 8 kms from Malaga City and is the main airport for the Costa Del Sol. Malaga Airport serves all the main tourist resorts, hotels and towns along the coast. The main towns can easily be reached by car or taxi, for example: Torremolinos - 10 minutes, Benalmadena - 15 minutes, Fuengirola - 20 minutes, Marbella - 30 minutes, Nerja 30 minutes.

Malaga Airport is one of the oldest Spanish airports as well as being one of the original locations of the first airline founded in Spain in 1919.

Most of the traffic handled by Malaga airport is from the European Union. The United Kingdom is the destination with the highest volume of travellers, with London Gatwick as leading destination, followed by Manchester and London Stansted. These UK airports are followed by other European destinations such as Dublín, Paris / Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam / Schiphol, Brussels and Copenhagen.

Malaga airport is currently undergoing renovation works, however, the main parts are finished, so travelling through Malaga Airport is not interfearded by the renovation works.

In 2018, Malaga Airport handled 19,021,704 passengers, 141,313 flight operations and 2,768 tonnes of cargo.

Boarding

Malaga airport has three boarding docks. Dock B for non-Schengen traffic (both European Union and non-European Union). Dock C for European Union non-Schengen traffic and the dock D for Schengen traffic (both European Union and non-European Union ).

Baggage Reclaim

The baggage reclaim hall in T3 has 11 baggage reclaim carrousels (7 for European Union flights and 4 for non-European Union flights) and 1 for special baggage. The hall in T2 has 11 baggage reclaim carousels.

Parking

Long stay car park (P3): The ideal option if you are going on holiday or will be away for a long time. No need to worry about your car while you travel as this car park has a 24hrs security. From this car park there is a free bus transport to the terminal in 5 minutes.

P1 car park: If you need to park your vehicle for a short time, there is a large car park close to the terminals at Malaga-Costa del Sol airport. This car par is ideal for dropping off or picking up passengers.

Transport from and to Malaga Airport

  • TRAIN
    There is a train station in Malaga Airport with a train service to Fuengirola and Malaga centre.
  • BUS
    There is a bus station in Malaga Airport with bus service to Marbella and Malaga. There is an express coach which goes without stopping to and from Marbella Bus station which is on the outskirts of the town. The normal bus service stops many times, the express coach goes directly to its destination bus station and is a lot faster.
  • TAXI TRANSFERS
    There are many companies, like ours, which offer taxi transfers to any location in the Costa del Sol. We recommend to pre-book a transfers for a smooth, safe and good priced transfer to your destination.
  • RENT A CAR
    There are many rental companies, a few of them located in the airport and some of them just outside. The rental companies inside the terminals are usually a lot more expensive. We recommend to pre-book a car with one of the companies outside the airport, who offer a free shuttle service to their offices.
