There are 79 kilometers in between Malaga Airport and Nerja. Nerja is famous for its Balcony of Europe (picture) and the Cave of Nerja.
Nerja is a small fishermans village located on the east side of the Costa del Sol.
The Balcón de Europa (Europe´s Balcony) is a viewpoint in the centre of Nerja which gives stunning views across the sea.
The Nerja caves, discovered in 1959, are now believed to be just one entrance to a linked series of potholes stretching many miles into the mountains between Nerja and Granada, and which may yet prove to be one of the most extensive unexplored systems in Europe. Certainly worth a visit.
Nerja is situated on a fairly steep hill and it has several large beaches and small beaches set in coves beneath cliffs.
Every year, several activities are organized in Nerja.
For example, the Fair of Nerja is celebrated in the second week of October.
The night of San Juan is celebrated 23rd of June, with live music and BBQ at most beaches of Nerja.
The Romeria of San Isidro in Nerja is celebrated the 15th of May, during the day of the crosses.
During the month of July you can visit the caves of Nerja for live Classic and Flamenco music.
